Al Ahly's head of medical staff Dr. Ahmed Abu Abla stated that Ali Maaloul suffered fatigue in his hamstring muscle, which forced him to leave the game against FC Bayern Munich in the FIFA Club World Cup semi-finals. 

"We decided to withdraw him from the game to avoid worsening his injury." 

"Maaloul's rehabilitation program started immediately after today's game, in order to prepare him for our match against Palmeiras of Brazil in the third-place playoff."
